Sawory Waffles

Waffles have been eaten since medieval times and in so many ways. There are sweet and sawory, hard and soft and crisp. This week I got inspired by a cooking show to make these Sawory Waffles. I had some filling left from my Vietnamese salad and springrolls and wanted to use it in a different way. So I was wondering what to make. And I decided to make Savory Waffles.

  • Wafflebatter:
  • 2 dl wheatflour
  • 2 dl potatoeflour/(potatostarch)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 4 dl milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g butter ( melted)

Mix all ingredients and leave for ten minutes before adding the savory filling and frying the wafflebatter.

  • Ingredients for filling and topping:
  • Chopped thin hamslices
  • Thinly sliced bacon, chopped and crispy fried
  • Garlic cloves chopped
  • Thinly sliced cabbage
  • Cucumber shredded
  • Yellow onions, sliced
  • Red onion, sliced
  • Fresh bean sprouts
  • Grated carrots
  • These ingredients you only mix in the topping:
  • Yoghurt
  • Mayonnaise
  • Salt
  • Peppar
  • Caviar
  • Shredded cheese
  • Parsley
  • Cherry tomatoes

I had already woked all ingredients and crispfried the bacon. I mixed all the ingredients I had left and mixed some in my wafflebatter.

Some I left for topping. These I mixed with yoghurt, mayonnaise, salt and pepper. Caviar, cherry tomatoes, parsley and shredded cheese I used for garnish.

Since I used leftovers I had these ingredients. However you can use whatever you have and feel like. Do not be afraid to experiment!
